Accompanying text to exhibition, fashion show and performance: "The 50s housewife. The hero. The illfated star crossed lovers. The rebel/ outcast. The sage. The trickster. What happens to the archetype when it has reached it's limits all together? What happens when these archetypes encounter their doppelgangers or less than perfect doubles in life? Double Walkers: Transfigurations Thru Fashion is an exhibition that explores the realities of these 6 archetypes as materialized through fashion, the body, and the environment. Double Walkers constructs 6 traditional environments and asks: What are the consequences when norms change or become too perfect to a point of distortion? Double Walkers is a study of the relationship between an archetypes outer appearance and their limits. Models and mannequins will occupy 6 unconventional spaces at Hyde Park Art Center. Live performers will reflect internal conflicts while lifeless mannequins embody ideals."
